Dear JUHSD students and families,
Over the past three months, life as we know it has changed completely. The COVID-19 pandemic evolved and escalated quickly. All of us had to figure out how to work and/or learn during these unsettling times, often with additional challenges at home. The psychological impact has been so widespread that Psychology Today called it an anxiety pandemic.
One of my goals as superintendent is to ensure that the JUHSD fosters a culture that promotes the health, safety, and well-being of staff, students and parents. In an effort to continuously support this commitment, especially in these very challenging times, the district has contracted with Care Solace for their services. This service is provided at no cost to you and is completely anonymous.
Care Solace helps people connect to local mental health related programs and counseling services. This service is paid for by the school district, and is free for staff, students, and their families. Help is available 24/7 in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Arabic, and many other languages.
Care Solace is completely confidential and anonymous. The JUHSD will not be given your name should you decide to make use of this service. You can learn more about Care Solace at caresolace.com/juhsdfamilies, or by calling 888-515-0595.
Thank you for your strength and courage during these difficult times. Sometimes reaching out for help when you need it can be the most difficult step of all. I hope that each of you reaches out when you need to, and that you know that the JUHSD family is here to support you.
With respect and gratitude,
Dr. D.
