Hello everyone!
I’m Victor Zou, and it’s my privilege and honor to serve as the Interim Principal at Westmoor High School. Before I started here, I was a classroom teacher and teacher-coach at Burton High School in San Francisco. There, I taught 11th Grade English, AP English, Sheltered English for English Learners, and co-taught with the Special Education department.
I was born and raised in San Francisco, where many of my family and friends still live. I began my college education at City College of San Francisco, where I spent two years as a full-time student while working part-time to pay for my later transfer to UC Berkeley. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, and returned for my Master’s Degree in Educational Teaching and teacher’s credential. More recently, I returned to Berkeley for a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and my administrative credential, through the Principal Leadership Institute.
I learned at an early age what it felt like to wrestle with my education. I struggled academically through most of my time in high school, and I often felt as if I didn’t belong in my classrooms. At the same time, I was fortunate enough to have the guidance and support of my mother and a few teachers and staff that faithfully and persistently pushed me towards success. These experiences later became my driving inspiration to work in education, and my belief that all students can achieve great things when the adults in their life support and nudge them to grow. Now, I hope to be a faithful and persistent supporter of the students, teachers, staff, and community here at Westmoor.
