About the Club
Having been around since 1999, Block W has become an integral part of Westmoor’s rich history and culture. Under the leadership of Ron Dimaggio (current coach of the cross country and track team), this organization started as an opportunity for members to be connected to minor community service events. The yearly selling of Westmoor’s iconic varsity letterman jackets made Block W a well-known club throughout the school, though we no longer participate in this activity. Instead, Block W has now evolved into a completely volunteer-based organization that services Daly City and allows participants to contribute to their local community.
Club Activities
Throughout the years, our club has partnered with various Daly City organizations to provide aid to locals in need. The annual Block W Pasta Dinner is an event that has been going on for ten years now, growing bigger and better with each new year. Through this, members raise funds that go towards buying holiday meals for the North Peninsula Food Pantry, where they also go to prepare and serve food for the disadvantaged. In addition to this, Block W has worked with the DC Fire Department during the annual Operation Santa Claus and with the DC Community Service Center in establishing “Pat’s Closet”, a clothing and home goods donation resource.
