All students are placed in Math Course 1 unless they meet the criteria for Math Course 2.
Math Course 2 Criteria
7th grade Smarter Balanced score of “Exceeded”
8th grade Smarter Balanced score of “Exceeded”
A third locally decided metric is used if the student is "in the bubble." All other students will be placed in Mathematics Course 1 in ninth grade.
Parents may sign a waiver to be placed in Math Course 2

Administer the MDTP - High School Mathematics Placement Test - HSA40D16 (40 questions)
MDTP Score: 27 or below recommend Math Jump Start in the summer.
(Schools will set up test administration dates)

Math Course 2 prerequisites: Pass at least one semester with a D- or higher
Math Course 3 prerequisites: Pass Math Course 2 with a C- or higher both semesters or pass the Math Course 3 MDTP Readiness Exam
Explorations in Data Science prerequisites: Student must be at least a junior
CP Statistics prerequisites: pass pass both semesters of either Math Course 3 or Explorations in Data Science
Precalculus prerequisites: Pass Math Course 3 with C- or higher both semesters or pass the Precalculus MDTP Readiness
AP Calculus prerequisites: Pass Pre-Calculus with C- or higher both semesters
AP Statistics prerequisites: Pass Math Course 3 with C- or higher both semesters
