    About the Club

     barkada

Westmoor’s Filipino Barkada is a club that celebrates, practices, and educates Westmoor students about Filipino culture. Meetings every Friday at Room 100.

    Club Activities

Every year, the Filipino Barkada alongside WHS Polynesian club, hosts Island Fiesta, an event in which students perform and showcase their talents. The Filipino Barkada also participates in International Foods Day.

    Club Statements

The Filipino Barkada seeks to celebrate, practice and educate the community about our rich culture and history of the Philippines. “Barkada” is Tagalog for a group of close friends. By promoting Filipino history, we aim to promote a more culturally diverse community. We openly accept all cultures and ethnicities that desire to learn about the Philippines. Through events like Island Fiesta, Barkada strives to showcase and promote Filipino talent from all across the Bay Area. Acknowledging the importance of working together and actively participating in community change, Barkada also works closely with community organizations like Liwanag Kultural Center and Pilipino Youth Coalition of San Mateo County to further address issues and needs related to the Filipino community.
