Elements for Success is a school-to-career program for low-income out of school youth 17 to 26 years of age who live in central and northern San Mateo County. Elements for Success is funded by the NOVA Workforce Board and the Jefferson Union High School District. The goal of the program, which operates year round, is to provide students with educational, employment and leadership training services while earning their GED.
Eligibility Requirements for the Program:
Our program serves youth ages 17-26 who attend school in the GED center of the Jefferson Adult Division. WIOA basic eligibility requirements:
Eligibility Requirements Not less than age 17 and not more than age 26 & A low-income individual &
An individual who is one or more of the following:
- Deficient in basic literacy skills
- A school dropout
- Homeless, a runaway, or foster child
- Pregnant or a parent
- Requires additional assistence to complete
an educational program.
The following services are offered FREE of charge to all Tools participants:
Educational Support Monitoring of academic progress
Free GED instruction
Payment of the GED testing fee, free GED materials One on one support College and financial aid application assistance
Bus passes and other transportation assistance to enable students to get to school and jobs.
Vocational Development Services Workshops on job readiness, career exploration and leadership skills Resume writing assistance Paid internships in your field of interest Paid summer work program Referrals to employment opportunities References and recommendations for future employment opportunities Leadership Development & Support Services Field trips Mentoring referrals Mental health counseling referrals Individualized follow-up services Access to staff through drop in visits, appointments, phone calls & emails
