English Learner Program
The major goals of Jefferson Union High School District’s program for English learners are to develop proficiency in English and matriculate into the district’s core curriculum as rapidly and as effectively as possible in an established English-language classroom or in an alternative course of study with curriculum designed and teaching methodology adapted for such students.

- Out of the 4,906 total enrollment, 569 are classified as English learners (11.6%).
- A total of 2,417 students (English Learners and Fluent English Proficient) speak a language other than English in their homes. This number represents about 49.3 percent of the district''s enrollment.

Variations and accommodations in test administration may be provided pursuant to 5 CCR 11516-11516.7.
Any student with a disability shall be allowed to take the CELDT with those accommodations for testing that the student has regularly used during instruction and classroom assessment as delineated in the student's individualized education program (IEP) or Section 504 plan that are appropriate and necessary to address the student's individual needs.
If he/she is unable to participate in the assessment or a portion of the assessment with such accommodations, he/she shall be administered an alternate assessment for English language proficiency as set forth in his/her IEP. (5 CCR 11516-11516.7)
