WELLNESS COUNSELING RESOURCES

  • The Wellness Counselor at Jefferson High School provides prevention and short term intervention for students facing social and emotional challenges that impact academic performance, attendance, and behavior at school. In a safe and supportive environment, students can meet with the Wellness Counselor to discuss a variety of complex issues such as stress, trauma, suicide, depression, bullying, grief, self-esteem, immigration, family life, drug and alcohol use, relationships, and L.G.B.T.Q.+. Students can learn positive, lifelong habits that contribute to their well-being and success. The Wellness Counselor can help direct students and families to counseling services in the community should students need longer-term therapy.

    Services Provided:

    • Drop-in & crisis support
    • Group counseling
    • Referrals to community partners for:
      • Long-term therapy
      • Family therapy
      • Acute or severe mental health/psychotic disorders
      • Trauma
    • Collaborations with community partners to provide prevention programming, such as:
    • Facilitation of one-on-one support and Freshman mentor workshops provided by the Peer Assistance class

    Students can complete an appointment request at F221. Parents or guardians may contact the Wellness Counselor at 650-550-7839 or email yyambao@juhsd.net with concerns.
