Superintendent Welcome

  • Dear JUHSD Community,

    Superintendent Presta

On November 17, 2020, I began a journey that comes with tremendous honor and great responsibility. On that date, I started my position as the Superintendent of the Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD). I am proud to be part of this community -- especially during this time, when a global pandemic has managed to bring us closer together. I have been astounded by the generosity of our staff and community. When I volunteer to help with the foodbank, or organize COVID testing, our JUHSD staff and board members are alongside me, giving selflessly to ensure that everyone is fed, and that testing is widely available to those who need it most.

The award-winning schools of the JUHSD serve a beautifully diverse community that honors civic engagement. During these challenging times, we have stayed true to our mission to develop a community of creative and critical thinkers and learners in a safe, challenging, and equitable educational environment that instills dignity, enthusiasm, and involvement. I am deeply impressed by the exceptional work our students are doing. They have made the very difficult transition to online education, yet continue to be civically engaged, to innovate, to learn and to grow. Our community has shown that we are in this together.

I am honored to serve in a strong and innovative education system with a staff that is committed to educational excellence, and I am excited to work with the Board of Education on ensuring equity and opportunity for all students. I look forward to working with our educators, families, and community to engage, educate and empower ALL students, while eliminating imbalances in educational outcomes.

Finally, the phrase “open door policy” means something in this district, and you will find that I am accessible and ready to listen. If at any time you have questions or concerns regarding your student or any aspect of the school district’s operation, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to your partnership.

    Warmly,

    Toni Presta
    Superintendent
    Jefferson Union High School District
