Dear Jefferson Union High School District Students, Parents, Families, and Staff:
The 2014-2015 School Year has arrived and the District is eager to continue the work we have been doing to foster the continuous achievement of our students and our school sites. 2013-2014 saw numerous achievements. Among these included the development and implementation of our Strategic Plan, negotiated salary increases for staff, and Instructional Coaching positions at each school site. We also adopted a new international math pathway to propel our students into the 21st century.
Next steps will include aligning our curriculum in math and other subjects with our partner elementary school districts. Working together, we are also continually developing new instructional strategies to ensure our students have a smooth transition into high school and graduate equipped with the skills necessary to be successful in college and career.
To help achieve our goals, the District will continue to support and train our teachers to better understand and implement the new Common Core Standards. Our teachers will meet for collaboration on the first and third Thursdays of each month.
Jefferson High School will look much different in the coming year, as we continue to renovate its classrooms and complete construction on a new science and music building.
Finally, the District is improving the way it communicates with parents, students, and community members by adopting a new plan to increase and streamline the flow of information between our schools, our district office, and the public.
We are extremely proud of our hard-working students and staff, and look forward to a year in which we build on our past success and push forward to achieve even more.
Superintendent, Jefferson Union High School District
